Anyhow, so he said if I do chose to run, I won't do any real permanent damage, I'll just be really sore for a long time. He still suggested that I don't...I haven't made up my mind. I did run three miles on Tuesday and my hip was still hurting. I have not really run since my 22 mile run on August 30th. I tried three miles two weeks ago and it still hurt. A week and a half ago I got a one month membership to the gym. I was able to go twice and workout on the elliptical - problem is my access card still doesn't work! I got up early and went to the gym at 5:30 and the stupid thing doesn't work! It's a SNAP Fitness so it is rarely staffed so I could not get in! I was totally peeved.
Really sucks to train for so long for nothing! We are still planning to go to the cities and I'm going to actually take a few days off!! It's been a long time since I've had a day off and I'm really looking forward to being in the city.

Sorry to hear about your hip issues. Holy cow woman - 22 miles?! You are a rock star. Is that little Arsin's fist pump in the air saying 'go mama!'
Don't know if this helps but, I had PT for a hip issue a few years ago. At first they thought it was bursitis and then finally narrowed it down to a weak gludeal medius muscle in my tush! (I'm sure I just totally messed up the spelling) I am sure the little face that goes with that darling little face is beautiful :)
PT here. ;) Did they do any manual therapy or check your alignment in spine/pelvis? How about look at your feet and see if you are landing correctly when running?
Yeeouch. Praying you get better soon. But, unfortunately, training for a marathon causes some major wear and tear on a person.
Keep us updated!
An unbalanced pelvis, you say? I'm fascinated! I must go google that right away!
I'm sorry you're hurting. I've been down the bursitis road. It made me feel like such an old lady! But it did go away, so I'm young again. Whew! You will be well again, too. But I would take it easy on the running until then. You can always start up again when you're all healed. Or maybe take up a lower impact endurance sport, like swimming or biking.

Getting that far into training and not making it to the event really, really stinks. But don't lose hope of ever crossing the finish line. The good news is that this is just the beginning of marathon season. There are lots of other ones coming up in the next couple of months. So continue your PT sessions, get that hip healed and go get yourself a medal!
